Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico
Today’s headline in the Noreste, one of Mazatlán daily newspapers is: “Celebran 481 Años De Veneración” (Celebrate 481 Years of Worship). Today, 12 December 2012, is the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico or El Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe. For more information on the meaning and the celebration see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Lady_of_Guadalupe. Today, for some people of Mexico it is as important as Christmas or Easter. Tonight in Mazatlan there will be a large celebration in the downtown area at the Cathedral. There will be events for the children, food vendors set up in the streets, along with a nativity scene where children can have their pictures made setting in the Nativity. The crowd will be shoulder to shoulder and the atmosphere will be festive. I hope you have a blessed day where ever you are and I hope you will take the time to bless someone else today.
