Instituto National de Migracion or Immigration is located next door to the office of Angel Cruz. In addition to teaching Spanish he will also assist with preparing your immigration forms. The buzz this year in Mexico has been the changes for migration status of foreigners. Once we bought our condo we received temporary resident status. This past November, new changes to the immigration laws were implemented in Mexico. In the long run I believe that the changes will have many positive effects for me living in Mexico. Our resident status expires in January and we made a trip to the immigration office this week to submit our request to renew our resident status. We will go back Monday for finger printing. I hope that we are able to receive finalization status prior to our departure in mid-January. The new laws are designed to provide a clear process for foreigners to achieve migration to Mexico with different levels of migration, temporary resident, permanent resident and citizen.
