Mazatlan, founded in 1793, is a working port city with a population of over 600,000. The city offers offers modern shopping for groceries and other needs. There are several large super market that include bakeries, pharmacies, deli, clothing and hardware, just like Wal-Mart. The largest are Mega, Sorina, Ley and Wal-Mart. We also have a Sam's Club. The Sam's card we have in Mexico is also good in the U.S. The grocery has many import products from the U.S. such as cereals, peanut butter and Folgers coffee. You will not find canned green beans, black eyed peas and other canned vegetables that we commonly use in the U.S. Fresh fruits and vegetables are normally available all year. They are very fresh and good, in addition to eggs, poultry, fish, beef and pork. You will not find country sausage but bacon both pork and turkey are available including Oscar Meyer. We buy our fish from a fish market where they receive fresh fish every morning and will fillet them for you while you wait. We buy beef and pork from a meat market. They make fresh hamburger from sirloin every day. If this makes you want to experience the culture of Mexico get you a ticket and come on down.
