Fresh bakeries are plentiful in all of Mexico and Mazatlan is no exception. Mexico has special pastries for every holiday and celebration. Last night after dinner and cleaning up the kitchen, about 9:00 p.m. we decided to go for coffee and dessert at Allegro Cafe. The pies, cakes and cookies are very good. I love the pastries as normally they are not quite as sweet as those in the U.S. but ave very original and rich. I had banana cream pie last night which is made with a slight tart but sweet taste by using lime as an ingredient in the filling. We had taken the bus to Allegro which is about 10 or 12 blocks from our house. After devouring our calorie ridden choices we walked back home in the cool night breeze and arrive home about 11:00 p.m. Mexico brings out the late owl in those that are normally in bed by 10:00 p.m. nightly.

Wish I had some pie. Do they have good bread? I can't find any I like here. Guess I will have to buy a bread machine. Love you both, Mother
