El Montalayo Restaurante
I discovered El Montalayo Restaurante this summer as it is located 1/2 block from my mechanic. The restaurant is located on Ave. La Marina, is a small out of the way restaurant located at the corner of a residential area. They open at 7:00 a.m. in the morning and close about dark or 7:00 p.m. which ever comes first. It is a very clean restaurant with outstanding service. They offer both outdoor and indoor seating. We normally always set outside. The menu is simple but good. The food is prepared "casera" which means it is prepared like the locals do in their homes. They offer tacos, huraches, gusiado, asada and other Mexican dishes along with breaded chicken and fish plates. It is very reasonably priced. They have great fruit drinks such as melon, papaya, mango, lime, strawberry, pineapple and others. They do not offer beer or mixed drinks. I just made myself hungry by thinking about the huraches. Go by and enjoy the good food, soon.
