The Mega Supercenter is one of Mazatlan's excellent stores for grocery shopping. Mega provides covered parking to protect our vehicles from the hot sun. Like Wal-Mart super centers, Mega offers other item such as electronics, clothing, appliances, cell phones, automotive, pharmacy, etc. This store was built about three years ago and is one that we most commonly use. It is located about 10 minutes from out house and easily accessible by city bus.
We have a great selection of fruit year around. Fresh Mango is no longer in Mexico but Mega has been offering Mango from Venezuela. In buying fruit, vegetables and meats you purchase by the kilo not the pound. Here in Mexico we use the metric system.
You will find fresh vegetables in all of our grocery stores much like you will find in the U.S.
We have a bakery with fresh breads and pastries. You will notice that many of our pastries are displayed in the open. In shopping for baked products you pick up a silver tray and a pair of tongs to place your selections on the tray and present them to the sales clerk who will bag them and place a price tag on the sack for your selection.
The coffee shop is a great place to take a break from your shopping and watch the other shoppers. For $26 (MX pesos) or about $2 (US), you can get a small american coffee with two small pastries.
